My birthday shopping sprees have unfortunately come to an end. (As they should, let's be honest.) However I am one for taking advantage of free birthday goodies. My boyfriend said I was one of "Those People" because most people don't ever go collect them. Not the case here!
I went into Ulta to pick up my birthday perk and had done a little bit of peeking online to see what the gift was this year. I knew that it was the Calvin Klein Mascara and was very excited to try it out!
I was born with extremely long eyelashes. Now, I know I shouldn't be complaining but some (most) formula mascaras are too wet for my lashes and end up just completely weighing them down. I'm also a big fan of the "clumpier" look. Now let me clarify; not the clumpy you imagine, but full/thick lashes. And boy-oh-boy does this bad boy deliver!
The mascara wand took me a minute to figure out. It has a twist top which shortens and lengthens the applicator. It's tough to hold onto (when in shortened position) while applying the product but if I can make it work, trust me, you can too. Using the wand with the applicator shortened is the way that I prefer to apply this product as I feel it makes the bristles more dense and you can really get in close to your lash line. For me, I wouldn't even feel the need to wear lashes with this mascara if I was planning a night out.
Ulta describes this mascara:
- Precision curved brush and patented lycra technology amplifies, shapes, and lifts every lash for maximum volume
- Customize lash looks with a unique twist brush applicator. Select definition or volume with a twist of the cap in this all-in-one mascara.
- Delivers buildable full lashes that remain soft and supple stroke-by-stroke
- Ophthalmologist tested. dermatologist tested. safe for contact lens wearers
(Please excuse the not so fabulous photos, it was a pretty rainy morning this morning!)

This mascara is without a doubt the BEST mascara I have ever used. I only need one, I repeat, ONE coat to get the look I usually desire (for day to day wear) when usually I do two and sometimes three of a drugstore brand. (My go-to drugstore that I do love is the Maybelline "Clump Crusher") I'm not a fan of colored mascara, but I was pleased to see that CK does offer a range of colors with this particular mascara.
I am so very pleased to have found a mascara that I won't regret purchasing time and time again.
What are some of your favorites?
