Anthropologie Inspired DIY!

We've officially been in our new place about two weeks and I knew as soon as we moved in that I wanted to create this DIY I had seen on youtube done by the one and only LaurDIY.  She had a bunch of bright neon colors incorporated in her strand, but I knew I wanted to keep mine pretty neutral.  I'm not 100% happy with how I have it set up right now, but I do absolutely love how it turned out!

Here's to many more DIYs coming soon!

To start, all you are going to need for this DIY is Tissue Paper of your choice/color, twine or string and scissors.

Take your first color choice and fold in half hamburger style. Usually the tissue paper has already been folded which is a good guide for folding. I did notice that you should try to be as accurate as possible when folding to help with later steps.

Fold the tissue paper in half hamburger style once again.

Fold one last time. You should fold hamburger style a total of three times. Like I said before, make sure that the folds are as close to perfect as you can make them, it'll save you a lot of trouble later on.

The next fold you need to make is a hotdog style! Line up the ends as much as possible.

This is where it can get tricky. Using your scissors with the open end of the tissue paper towards you, and the folded part away from you (at the top) start cutting upwards in strips about 1cm apart from one another. Make sure to leave a few inches of space uncut at the top.

So I apologize - I did a terrible job at photographing the next part. After you have cut all the way across your strip, through both sections, you want to open the fold up so that you have strips of tissue paper on either side and an uncut section in the middle.

I hope that made sense.

Once you have the strips on either side and the uncut section in the middle, twist the middle section as tightly as you can.

Once you have twisted the uncut section as much as you can, you will notice that it starts to want to curl onto itself. Let it happen! You want it to start creating a loop.

Tissue Paper is VERY easy to mold and keeps it shape very easily. give the loop a few good twists around itself and it should stay in place.

The next step is to string the tassels on in the pattern of your choosing, hang anyway you fancy and enjoy!

I have a long ways to go with this space before I'm completely happy with how it looks, but for me this is a good place to start!

XOXO! E
