Birchbox | October 2014

Happy Friday! I came home from work to find a pretty pink box waiting for me in my mailbox.  I know most people know about Birchbox, but until a few months ago I was not subscribed to their service. I have however been subscribed to ipsy for just over a year. I wanted to see what Birchbox was all about, even though I had heard reviews that it just fell short to ipsy.


This is my third box so far, and I do have to say I'm less than impressed. I think I've been spoiled with ipsy so far and expect the same from Birchbox. If you don't know - both boxes are a monthly subscription costing $10, with free shipping. I've found that Birchbox seems to have smaller samples, which is fine, but ipsy tends to offer more full sized products as well. (One month a received a full sized Urban Decay Kohl eyeliner - score!) This month's Birchbox was very plain. Last month's box was brightly colored and had bold patterns.

Use: Originally made for nursing moms, this ultra hydrating balm is a makeup artist fave.

Coastal Scents "Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette Set" Full size retails for $34
Use: Versatile range of rose-tinted shadows that will round out your beauty arsenal.

I haven't had the chance to test any of these out yet, but there are a few I'm excited to start trying. I would like to say that I have the Revealed 2 Palette and have already done a blog post / review. I absolutely LOVE this palette and to me, it's a close enough dupe to the Naked 3 Palette. I can testify that these colors do not disappoint and have amazing color payoff. 

I'm probably going to do a comparison post when my ipsy bag for the month comes in, that way if anyone is contemplating which to go for you can kind of get an idea of what to expect from each.  You can find Birchbox here, and ipsy here.
